420.000 New High-Speed Fibre Optic Broadband Connections In Ireland By End-2025

National Broadband Ireland (NBI), the main player driving the Government’s National Broadband Plan forward, is on track to provide over 420,000 premises with high-speed fibre‑optic broadband by the end of 2025 .

As of mid‑May 2025, more than 361,100 residenc, and over 125,000 premises are live and fully connected to the Irish broadband digital network.

The rapid expansion is fuelling a transformation in rural and suburban Ireland by bringing the fastest technology to the most remote corners of the island.

The changes are profound and will impact crucial activities like remote healthcare and education, enhanced precision farming and e-monitoring, and more flexible work-from-home options.

Geographical coverage continues to grow, with over 50 retail internet providers now offering fibre services across the nation.
