SIRO fibre broadband modem is the fastest internet connection National Broadband Ireland (NBI) you have ever experienced. It can deliver rates up to 1,000 Mbps, which is equal to an entire GB. To put this into perspective, Netflix requires just 1.5 Mbps speed to sufficiently stream your favourite content. You don't need to be a genius to work out that SIRO delivers nearly one-thousand times the minimum amount. Furthermore, the average broadband speed across Ireland is just 18.22 Mbps. Thanks to Vodafone and ESB working together with Sky, Digiweb and now Eir following a COMREG dispute, the majority of Ireland, including rural Ireland will be able to enjoy fast internet speed availability and unlimited downloads soon.

SIRO is an ultrafast broadband service that is the brainchild of a joint venture between Vodafone and ESB. It uses the electricity network through Ireland to provide 100% fibre broadband to customers.
SIRO uses fibre optic technology that runs parallel to electricity cables and connections. This technology is referred to as Fibre-to-the-Home or Fibre-to-the-Premises for schools, businesses, and non-residential buildings, and it has the potential to reach upload speeds of an astounding 1,000 Mbps.
SIRO is available in many places throughout Ireland. The fastest fibre speed you can get from SIRO is 1,000Mbps (or 1 gigabit per second). However, if you know anything about internet speeds, you will not hold your breath that this is going to happen to you. Still, when you compared this to the fastest broadband speeds currently, which is usually around 360Mbps, it is something to get excited about. As with all internet speed readings, some factors could affect this, though. This includes the number of people on the network and the reliability of your area.
