For almost 10 years Sky Ireland has been a powerhouse of the Irish broadband market. Launched in February 2013, it remains one of the few national providers to offer the triple treat of phone, broadband, and digital TV services.
Sky Ireland followed its launch in 2013 with fibre broadband and speeds of up to 100 Mbit/s since December 2014. Fast-forward seven years, and Sky’s award-winning internet services (including Gold in the 2022 Choose Broadband Awards) occupies over 17% of the country’s broadband subscriptions.
Sky Ireland remains an extremely attractive broadband provider due to its quick and reliable service and capability to function in the more rural parts of the country. From a purely broadband perspective, Sky promises superfast broadband with download speeds ranging from 100Mb/s right up to 1Gb/s.
Sky guarantees the broadband it advertises with a ‘Speed Guarantee’ that offers money back to you if the connection doesn’t perform as quickly as promised.
Furthermore, the ‘Wall to Wall Guarantee’ ensures each room of the house will perform just as well on Sky’s WIFI services, and not just the room with/near the router.
Sky Ireland currently separates it’s broadband services into 3 main categories to choose from depending on your personal needs and budget.
First up is the ‘Superfast’ service. Sky’s Superfast broadband is perfect for ‘streaming and browsing in smaller households. Packages start from just €35 per month for 12 months. It boasts average download speeds of 100Mb/s and upload speeds of around 10Mb/s with that all important Wall to Wall Guarantee.
One step up from Superfast is Sky’s Ultrafast Plus. This also starts from €35 for 12 months, but is advertised by Sky as the Best Value broadband package due to its increased capabilities over the Superfast service.
Ultrafast Plus is specifically designed to deal with much more traffic and usage such as streaming, gaming, and downloading on multiple devices at once. Ultrafast Plus has download speeds averaging at 500Mb/s and incredible upload speeds of around 30Mb/s.
The third and final price point of broadband on offer from Sky Ireland is the Ultrafast Max package. Ultrafast Max has the bigger household in mind, and offers the capabilities of Ultrafast Plus (streaming, downloading, UHD gaming etc) but all at once.
For an extra €10 per month, consumers can get Ultrafast Max for €45 for 12 months, and ensure their household won’t experience any delays despite the broadband being pulled in multiple directions at once.
Ultrafast Max has, unsurprisingly, the most impressive speeds of the three packages, with up to 1Gb/s download speeds, which is twice as fast as Ultrafast Plus, and 30Mb/s upload speeds too.
Finally, Sky Ireland offers 99.9% reliability and won the best Broadband Bundle, Best Customer Service, and Best Technical Support awards at the 2022 Broadband Awards.
